HP No. 1 in Singapore Unix & RISC+EPIC Server Market

According to the IDC Asia Pacific Quarterly enterprise Tracker, Hewlett Packard has leaped to the No. 1 position in Singapore’s Unix and RISC+EPIC server revenues for the third quarter of 2007....

According to the IDC Asia Pacific Quarterly enterprise Tracker, Hewlett Packard has leaped to the No. 1 position in Singapore’s Unix and RISC+EPIC server revenues for the third quarter of 2007.

In Singapore, HP took the leading position in the Unix server market in the third quarter, capturing 36.6 percent revenue share, and garnering a 4.7 percentage point lead over its closest competitor. The company registered a 31.2 percent year-on-year revenue growth while its competitors’ numbers slid. Also in Q3 2007, HP overtook its closest competitor in the RISC+EPIC server market in Singapore with 34.9 percent revenue share.

“Securing the top spot in the Singapore Unix and RISC+EPIC server market in Q3 mirrors our strong execution and growth momentum across the region throughout 2007, specifically in our high-end server products,” said Hou Wei Kai, Business Director, Business Critical Systems, Hewlett Packard Singapore.

“We will push for continued leadership by focusing on solving our customers’ business issues with innovative technologies and cost-effective solutions.”

Earlier this year, HP launched its latest version of the Unix operating system – HP-UX 11i v3 to help customers deliver mission-critical virtualization combined with mainframe-class availability. HP also strengthened its Integrity server lineup with the launch of its first Integrity BladeSystem c-Class environment – HP Integrity BL860c server and a rack-optimized unit – HP Integrity rx2660 entry-class server.
