Mobile & Wireless Group (MWg), developer of converged mobile devices headquartered in Singapore, and Splashpower Ltd., a Cambridge, U.K.-based developer of wireless power technology, said this week that they have signed an agreement that will enable MWg devices to be powered wirelessly.

Under terms of the agreement, MWg devices will be equipped with Splashpower’s technology to enable inductive charging, where electrical batteries of a handset are charged wirelessly using electromagnetic induction.
This new capability can be expected by mid of 2008.

“This is a superb opportunity for MWg to provide the convenience of wireless power to our customers. We are a strong advocate of innovative technology that enhances the consumer experience. The addition of this technology will provide end users greater flexibility in charging their handset,” said Mark Billington, MWg’s chief executive officer.

“The charging convenience and universality we offer is a natural addition to the exciting new devices in the 2008 MWg roadmap, ” adds Bill Campbell, CEO of Splashpower.

MWg is a Singapore-based company established to develop and market premium, converged mobile devices. It was founded by the team responsible for O2’s ground-breaking range of PDA-phones.
