Interwoven, a provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, said that Hwa Nan Financial Holdings Company (HNFHC), one of Taiwan's financial institutions, has implemented Interwoven's WCM solution, based on Team Site, in support of their subsidiary, Hwa Nan Commercial Bank (HNCB).

HNFHC's Information Technology and Administration Department (ITAD) was challenged with meeting the key business objectives of their various business units. In order to address marketing initiatives such as cross-selling and resource integration, the department was empowered to promote internal Content Management. The ITAD built an employee portal for Hwa Nan Commercial Bank and utilised the Interwoven WCM solution to establish the web site management platform structure.

Casey Lo, head of ITAD said, "After introducing Interwoven's WCM solution, the content and application service we painstakingly created boosted repeat usage, maximising its core value. Each business unit can simply select and obtain the information it requires from the content management platform for free usage and publication on the web site. "

On the other hand, Open Text, a provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, had announced an expanded Web Content Management (WCM) strategy that includes the integration of RedDot Solutions' software with Open Text's Livelink ECM, mid October 2006.

The company presented an initial version of the solution at its LiveLinkUp Phoenix 2006 global user conference in November, and plans to ship the first version of the product in early 2007. Open Text also unveiled a product roadmap for further versions of the integrated product.

"There's no question today that Web Content Management has to be factored into a company's ECM strategy," said Mark R. Gilbert, Research Vice President at Gartner, Inc. "With more content and more sites to manage, Web content will become increasingly tangled with the broader information management demands in large organisations. In order to be successful, companies need solutions that can scale for the enterprise and they need tighter integration with ECM capabilities."

Software AG Provides Crossvision Master Data Manager for Data Sets [ENTERPRISE IT ARCHITECTURE]

KEY WORDS: Software AG, Crossvision Master Data Manager, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA),

Software AG has added to its crossvision SOA suite that consolidates information from multiple data sources spread across many departments. crossvision Master Data Manager can then make this data available as a service, which can be utilised by a system or Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) application.

crossvision Master Data Manager can be applied to a range of master data sets and is not limited to particular data such as product information management or customer data integration. It is based on open standards like XML Schema J2EE, crossvision.

According to the company, as a Master Data Management (MDM) engine, this new product:

  • Consolidates redundant master data across multiple systems
  • Enables organisations to implement a single MDM system for all master data
  • Eliminates the need for point-to-point integration of master data
  • Exposes consolidated master data via Web services for use in any application
  • Improves the reuse of Web services, since all created services can be governed in a central registry/repository—CentraSite
  • Features a graphical user interface
  • Includes a robust security model featuring rights delegation based on inheritance
  • Offers read/write API, including automatic control rules on master data updates

Tibco had rolled out the Tibco Collaborative Information Manager 6.0, mid Octover 2006, which is said to serve as a cornerstone to realising the benefits of a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). Tibco 's latest Master Data Management (MDM) application delivers data quality and governance across the value chain for consistent, and timely information, Tibco officials said.

"Master Data Management (MDM) is becoming a business imperative for many organisations and is increasingly being designed for SOA environments," said David Newman, Research Vice President, Information Infrastructure, Gartner. "In this capacity, we see MDM helping organisations to expose a layer of business services to achieve consistency, accuracy and integrity of information assets in support of key customer initiatives.

"Most of the attention to SOA deployments has gone into Web service creation, deployment, and management standards and technologies," said Neeraj Gokhale, General Manager, Enterprise Information Management, Tibco. . "However, if data is inconsistent across applications, it will be increasingly difficult, if not prohibitive to build a heterogeneous SOA services that cut across multiple systems and departments."
