Applix, a provider of performance management applications, has further extended its roster of 64-bit technology customers with N Brown, the Manchester, UK-based direct home shopping company. N Brown has selected Applix TM 1 to provide a budgeting and merchandise planning solution.

Using Applix's TM1, N Brown will be able to integrate Business Intelligence (BI) functions throughout the organisation, eliminating the potential for disconnect between marketing and finance information. TM1 will be used by all divisions within the commercial team, providing fast analysis of complex data for operational management purposes, the company said.

N Brown is amongst a group of UK-based Applix customers such as Jewsons, the UK's leading supplier of building materials, Zurich Insurance and Thresher Group, the UK's independent specialist drinks retailer, who now utilise 64-bit technology in TM1 in order to process and analyse large volumes of data.

"TM1's 64-bit technology will allow us to extract data from our legacy systems and perform complex analytics", says Dean Moore, chief financial officer, N Brown.

"64-bit technology coupled with in-memory processing means we will be able to analyse large volumes of data with faster response times to queries, ensuring all our information is up to date," Moore concluded.

Martin Richmond-Coggan, VP of EMEA at Applix, says, "Gartner predicts that by 2012, 70 per cent of Global 1000 organisations will load detailed data into memory as the primary method to optimise BI application performance."
