Datacraft Inks Deal with Japan’s Largest Luxury Cruise Liner

IT solutions and services company Datacraft has won a deal to upgrade and support the networking needs of Japan's largest luxury cruise liner, the Asuka II.

Under a five-year agreement with the liner's owner, NYK Cruises Co.Ltd, Datacraft will be responsible for maintaining the liner's information and communication's networks at sea and at the ports it visits.

The Singapore based company will also offer uptime maintenance and support service offering to ensure fast response and quick resolution of IT infrastructure problems that may occur.

"Following its recent re-fit, the liner’s information and communications networks are highly sophisticated and on par with those of any land-based luxury hotels. The crew depends on the liner’s networks and applications to ensure seamless operation in order to create an unforgettable experience for every passenger," said Megumi Hasegawa, Datacraft's country manager for Japan.

Headquartered in Tokyo, NYK (Nippon Yusen Kaisha), the largest shipping company in the world, operates more than 700 ships, including the cruise division which is a core business.

NYK Cruises operates the 592-passenger Asuka liner for the Japanese market, which has expanded rapidly with demand far exceeding supply. The newly re-modelled Asuka II is not only the biggest cruise ship in Japan, but is apparently also the most prestigious and carries up to 800 passengers in unrivalled style and comfort.
