Security company McAfee has unveiled Secure Internet Gateway 3000, a combined e-mail and Web security appliance for Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) in Singapore.
The Secure Internet Gateway 3000 has been packaged as a next-generation protection against spam, viruses, spyware, and malicious Web sites in an integrated, affordable and easy-to-manage appliance. It’s ability to support up to 200 users per device, makes it a cost-effective solution for SMBs according to McAfee.
“Small-and-medium businesses do not have the resources of an enterprise, but face the same challenge of increasing security risks,” said Ashley Wearne, McAfee’s vice president, Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and India.
“These companies do not have a lot of time to spend on security but would like the flexibility to configure and change security policies when needed. McAfee helps by providing enterprise-class functionality in products that are easy to deploy and manage.”
McAfee said it has also expanded its channel initiatives to support this rapidly growing market.
SMBs offer a strong opportunity for McAfee resellers and McAfee has developed resources for the support and education of the channels. McAfee’s channel initiatives include: Launch Pad, a tool to help resellers identify the right products for their customers by business profile, customer needs or network setup; Global Support Lab, a real-world lab equipped with the latest McAfee technologies where partners can plan, test, and train with the latest hardware and software products to support their customers’ network security implementations; and Product Quick Reference Guide, a resource which provides a snapshot of McAfee’s latest products that effectively solve security problems.
Both products also include McAfee SiteAdvisor to guard against Web-based malware such as adware, spyware, viruses and phishing scams. Adding the ability to filter malicious Web sites gives businesses an extra layer of protection against spam, spyware and Internet fraud.
