Toshiba Qosmio: Home Theater or Computer? Both

After being in the sideline as a also-ran-computer maker, Japanese electronics company Toshiba has unveiled a laptop that’s both a computer and a home theater system. The Qosmio F45-AV412 is a 15-inch laptop that has multimedia features such as HD DVD drive, a dub woofer and a media control jog wheel, and similar to the one found in Lenovo laptop. It also has all standard features of a top end computer.

So a HD-DVD and laptop at half the rate of a new HD-DVD player? Yes and Toshiba had made it possible for only USD 1,499. Toshiba has sacrificed few things to make a HD-DVD possible. It has reduced the size of the screen to 15.4 inch from the industry standard 17 inches. Now that is not enough to support HD DVD's full 1,080 pixel resolution.

The Toshiba Qosmio F45-AV412 also has an 802.11n Wi-Fi technology, but no bluetooth technology, that’s becoming a standard feature in all mainstream laptops. It has a 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 CPU and 2GB RAM.
