Digital maps and dynamic content provider for navigation and location based solutions, Tele Atlas has announced that Indonesian wireless operator Indosat will launch its new i-gps off-board navigation solution based on its digital maps.
Part of the new i-gps navigation solution, Tele Atlas digital maps will include over 89,000 kilometres of roads in Jabotabek, Surabaya, Semarang, Bandung, Malang, Sidoarjo, Gresik and Bali as well as the major road network of the complete island of Java.
Jabotabek is Indonesia’s government and business center and most populated region and includes the Jakarta metropolitan area. Map coverage also includes more than 70,000 points of interest (POIs).
“The i-gps service is the first full-fledged commercial off-board solution launched in Southeast Asia, a region with tremendous potential in the wireless space,” said Mark Steele, Chief Operating Officer of Tele Atlas Asia Pacific.
“This is a great opportunity for us to deliver an advanced navigation solution to the Asia Pacific region with a leading-edge wireless operator.”
The announcement is the latest in a string of Southeast Asia developments for the company, including the launch of Tele Atlas’ mobile mapping van technology in Singapore earlier this month and a joint venture with MappointAsia Thailand to form Tele Atlas (Thailand) Co., Ltd. |
