Salesforce.com to Surpass One Million Subscription Milestone

On-demand business service provider Salesforce.com has projected that it will surpass its one million paying subscriptions mark by this month.

The organisation attributed its success to industry momentum and customer adoption of the Force.com Platform and Salesforce CRM (customer relationship management) application suite.

Salesforce. Com also said there has been rapid adoption of the developer preview of Visualforce as some 3,400 developers already have created more than 5,800 custom interfaces with the new User-Interface-as-a-Service component of the Force.com platform.

“Our strategy of delivering both the Force.com Platform-as-a-Service and Salesforce core Software-as-a- Service applications has driven a remarkable shift in the industry over the last eight years,” said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO, salesforce.com.

“It took seven years to reach the first 500,000 paying subscribers and only another 16 months for the second 500,000. That’s incredible global momentum and adoption for businesses of all sizes. For a million subscribers around the world, it’s truly The End of Software.”

In celebration of the company’s upcoming one millionth subscription milestone, Salesforce.com has announced that it will be awarding a one million dollar donation across ten nonprofit organizations.

The global recipients, spanning from educational institutions and microfinance, to fair trade and healthcare, represent the company’s 1/1/1 integrated corporate philanthropy model where 1 percent of employee time, 1 percent of the company's equity, and 1 percent of the company's product are delivered to nonprofits.

“From salesforce.com’s beginning, we’ve been focused on not only delivering a new business and technology model, but a new model for corporate philanthropy,” added Benioff,

“We felt it was only fitting that as we move towards this tremendous one million subscription milestone, we continue on the mission behind our 1/1/1 model to give back to nonprofit organizations in our communities as the success of our company continues to grow.”
