Serena Software Goes SaaS

Serena Software has unveiled three solutions based on the Software as a Serivce (SaaS) model.

SaaS provides significant benefits for companies with no infrastructure to manage, no software to install, faster time to value, subscription pricing, better support, and immediate access to upgrades as they become available.

Serena--which focuses on Business Mashups and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)-- has introduced the Serena Mariner (Project and Portfolio Management), Serena Business Mashups, and Agile ALM tools as part of its foray into the SaaS arena.

“The Internet simply provides a better way to deliver software to our customers. There is no infrastructure for them to manage, they are up and running more quickly, and they pay for the value received through a monthly subscription,” said Jeremy Burton, Serena CEO, said,

“This is the future of the software industry, so we are starting to migrate all of our internal systems to the SaaS model – Salesforce.com, Marketbright, Postini, and Facebook are just the start for us.”
