Datacraft Upgrades Thai Bank Network with MPLS VPN Solution

Datacraft announced today that it has completed an MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) VPN (Virtual Private Network) upgrade designed to transform the performance, productivity and resiliency of the network infrastructure for a leading Thai bank.

The project, which was executed in six months, is based on IP-enabled MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network) switches, and resolved bandwidth crunch issues the bank was facing due to increase in network usage, paving the way for an upgrade of core banking applications that would not have been possible with the bank’s legacy systems.

“Banks face a growing challenge of offering more services online and inevitably network capacity comes under pressure. The MPLS VPN solution implemented for the bank ensures a productivity boost across a nationwide branch network by leveraging a comprehensive unified communications strategy and new service rollout –all based on a high capacity IP-based network,” said Sutas Kongdumrongkia, Country General Manager for Datacraft Thailand.

The new high capacity, carrier-grade MPLS VPN will allow an increase in the volume of online financial transactions that can be handled by staff across the bank’s extensive branch network, while also ensuring spare capacity for future growth. It will also offer the flexibility to roll out web-based banking applications to better meet customer needs and at the same time, comply to government policy requirements.
