Fujitsu Asia and VMware, Inc, this week entered into a local OEM (original equipment manufacturer) distribution agreement to offer end-to-end server virtualization solutions – comprising consultation, hardware, software, systems integration and maintenance – across the ASEAN region.
Under the agreement Fujitsu Asia will be allowed to sell VMware virtualization on Fujitsu’s Intel-based PRIMERGY line of servers and to provide Level 1 and Level 2 support.
“We are delighted to further extend our relationship with VMware, which delivers the de facto standard in virtualization solutions,” said Motohiko Uno, vice president, platform solutions group of Fujitsu Asia.
“This agreement furthers Fujitsu’s commitment to green IT. We are focused on helping customers of all sizes to significantly reduce the cost, complexity and environmental impact of enterprise services. PRIMERGY blade servers already offer an excellent performance-to-energy ratio, and by adding VMware virtualization, customers will derive even greater efficiency from their hardware investments.”
VMware virtualization, used by some 120,000 customers worldwide, helps them reduce capital and operating expenses, ensure business continuity, strengthen security and go green.
VMware Infrastructure 3—VMware’s datacenter virtualization and management suite, bundled with Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers with full support from Fujitsu-- enables automatic load balancing, business continuity and power management and the ability to move a virtual machine across physical machines to minimize service interruption. VMware Infrastructure 3 is also compatible with VMware’s desktop virtualization and management solutions.
Designed for Linux and Windows platforms, the PRIMERGY range comprises mission-critical, enterprise-class and entry-level blade, rack and tower servers engineered for optimum performance with low energy consumption and minimal heat dissipation. For example, the PRIMERGY BX620 S4 blade server runs on dual- or quad-core Xeon processors and is designed specifically for energy-efficient, large-scale data centre applications.
“Our customers use VMware virtualization to deliver robust, efficient, and reliable IT infrastructure environments that help them consolidate hardware, increase service levels and streamline development and testing,” said Jim Lenox, general manager of VMware Asia South.
“With full support from Fujitsu, customers now have peace of mind that lets them maximize their investments in VMware virtualization to simplify datacenter management and improve energy efficiencies.”
The entire suite of server virtualisation solutions is available now in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. |
